Stonehenge solstice coin necklace – handmade and recycled little halfpenny coin

Each piece is carefully and considerately handcrafted from a very small UK half penny (no longer in circulation, 1984 was the last year of the half-pea). It is only a tiny 17 mm diameter coin, now i have started working with them i realise i quite miss them being in circulation! I used to buy sickly little ½ penny chewy sweets as a little boy.  It is a beautiful little coin to work with.

The stonehenge stones I have manage to cut and carve are approx 2mm tall !!  Your main decisions are to choose from :

Summer solstice with Sun,

Winter solstice with Moon and Stars or

Summer & Winter solstice with Sun, Moon and Star.

Next you can choose an available year 1971 – 1984. This date is visible on the front bottom left of the pendant and could add that extra special birthday touch. It is worth noting that some of these years will carry a surcharge as they are scarce.  If date is not important I will recycled the first and best wee half penny I get my grubby mitts on.

These are definitely tiny, sweet little charms / necklaces.  Each piece is carefully and considerately handcrafted from a very small UK half penny. This coin is no longer in circulation; 1984 was its last year of minting as it was impossible to buy anything with a ha’penny any more. It is only a tiny 17 mm diameter coin, and I have realised how much I miss these being in circulation! I used to buy sickly little ½ penny chewy sweets as a little boy, and working with these bring me back… It really is a beautiful little coin to work with, although quite challenging because of its size –  for instance, the Stonehenge stones I have managed to cut and carve are approximately 2mm tall!

NECKLACE INFORMATION

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen).  The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..

Large size : approx 210 mm (good size if you want a looser dangly medium fit)
