Celtic Cross
Celtic cross necklace – handmade and recycled silver 100 year old sterling silver Florin
The Celtic cross is a beautiful symbol of past and present, our ancestors and loved ones. The circle behind the cross is the Sun of God and the cross itself the Son of God. Wether you or your ancestors were celebrating the creation or the Creator the Celtic Cross is a powerful symbol. It is a symbol everyone can cherish. Christians are offered the opportunity to enjoy a symbol that brings pagans in contact with the faith. A cross that leads people to the Gospels. For pagans it is a direct connection to the cosmological beliefs of ancestors. The meaning comes out of the heart of the person instead of being rooted in verifiable facts in terms of origin and meaning.
This particular celtic cross is embellished with an insular design unique to Hairy Growler as it is one which came to me in a freehand fashion when creating the Celtic Cross. I have lovingly crafted each cross pendant from a 100 year old silver florin. The coins themselves are the perfect medium for this beautiful design, inline with a love of nature using these coins is the perfect ethical and green solution. No new silver is destructively ‘mined’ and old, uncollectible pure silver coins are saved from the ‘melting pot’ of bullion merchants. This protects their history and ensures their stories live on.
It is hand cut, carved and engraved using traditional hand saws, chisels and files. This traditional process allows me to have a close connection to each piece. This also gives the added bonus of each piece being completely unique. Each cross is individually handmade and recycled in Cambridge, England.
