Hawthorn leaf earrings.

The May Tree

“The May tree. Tree of the faeries. A happy, wild and enchanted tree full of mystery and life. It is the ruler of the 6th Lunar cycle 13th May – 9th June bringing with her deep roots and protective thorns.” – The Harey Growler.

Silver shillings are recycled to craft these lovely Hawthorn leaf earrings. These coins are unwanted by coin collectors due to wear marks from being used to buy and sell over one hundred years ago.  Rather than let them simply be melted down for the silver content I absolutely love coming up with designs and ideas to transform them into something desirable. By doing this the historical details are retained, simultaneously adding depth, interest and intrigue to the design.  The Hawthorn leaves have been individually hand cut from the old ‘out of circulation’ coins with a traditional jewellers saw then carved and engraved .

For added interest an ‘off-cut’ surrounding coin is included with the earrings. The Hawthorn leaves can also be engraved on the reverse with personal initials upon request.   Handmade and completely recycled in Cambridge, UK. Complete with the finest sterling silver earwires.

NECKLACE INFORMATION

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen).  The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..
