Seed of Life
Sacred geometry jewellery as the Seed of Life – Handcrafted and recycled silver Victorian shilling.
This delicate necklace is a geometric progression and symbol of protection and fertility passed through our generations. It succeeds the individual circle and Vesica Pisces and preceeds the flower of life, fruit of life and tree of life.
As always, each and every necklace pendant I make is handmade and completely made from recycled raw materials. The raw material is a sterling silver shilling coin circa 1890’s. I use coins unwanted by coin collectors. Wear and tear make these coins unwanted – but not to me. I refuse to let these coins be melted down for the silver content. Instead, I’ve transformed them into something desirable in the Seed of Life. I create designs and ideas to preserve the coins’ personalities and quirks. This I do in order for the historical are retained, which adds depth, interest and intrigue to the design.
I freehand-draw the Seed of Life onto the sterling silver coin. Then I drill several holes and cut the sections delicately away. Finally, I file, smooth and finally polish the edges. The end result is a lovely, original, recycled pendant with a captivating history.
Each one of these coin pendants I create is different, unusual and unique. Be assured that if you order one it will look equally as lovely! If you liked this little Seed of Life, then why not have a look at the Moonlight Passage?
