Recycled silver coin and hand felted hare
The Prince of Hares will take full command of your home (unless you have cats and he’ll take a back seat watching in bewilderment) whilst you are out gallivanting, modelling his silver crown. Just remember when you return home, to kneel before him, offer him your sincerest gratitude and reposition the crown at the appropriate jaunty angle.
For this super limited edition collaboration the beautiful hare has been hand felted in Gloucestershire by the extraordinarily talented Carlin Anderson. I have created the silver crown using a recycled silver Florin coin. The ‘heads’ side of the coin is visible on the inside of the crown (obviously!) and the tails side details visible on the outside.
These crown rings are available in all sizes, and each one is handcrafted to order from an sterling silver British coin. Coins minted before 1920 in Britain (and many other countries) are sterling silver. These coins are just perfect to turn into rings. During the terrible world wars some artisan soilders would take these precious coins and transform them into rings for loved ones and to remind them of loved ones back ‘at home’. The resourcefulness of these soilders is admirable and inspiring. This resourceful intent has now resurfaced in my work as a silversmith with green ethics looking to create original and unusual wearable pieces of art. Trench art to recycled art.
The outside surface of the ring emblazons one side of the coin with much of its detail intact. This gives the rings a wonderfully interesting aspect and evident history. The inside of the ring, clearly shows the other side of the coin. This hidden detail, for you, completes the historical crown.

Smaller size rings are made using sterling silver Sixpences and Shillings. Medium size rings are made using Shillings and Florins, whilst larger rings are made using Florins and Halfcrowns. They all look fab.
Sizes : Approx
Shillings approx 6mm wide.
Florins approx 7 mm wide.
Halfcrowns approx 8 mm wide.
“An unbroken circle of union…”
These rings also make fab alternative wedding bands. The creative process used in making them means that there is no join. They are an unbroken circle. One coin turned into a lovely, original ring. And you have to admit a pair of beautiful hares hands down beat a traditional ‘ring pillow’ for the ceremony!
