Strawberry Moon – gazing hare

Strawberry Moon Hare coin necklace – handmade and recycled little halfpenny coin

These are definitely tiny, sweet little charms / necklaces.  Each piece is carefully and considerately handcrafted from a very small UK half penny. This coin is no longer in circulation; 1984 was its last year of minting as it was impossible to buy anything with a ha’penny any more. It is only a tiny 17 mm diameter coin, and I have realised how much I miss these being in circulation! I used to buy sickly little ½ penny chewy sweets as a little boy, and working with these bring me back… It really is a beautiful little coin to work with, although quite challenging because of its size –  for instance, the magical mushroom is only 3mm tall and the hare 5mm tall.

If you are looking for a 40th or 50th Birthday gift then I have a small selection of special years. 1971 – 1984 that I have managed to secure.  This date is visible on the front bottom left of the pendant, and will add an extra special birthday touch.  If date is not important, I will find the best wee ha’penny I get my grubby mitts on. Then, I will make into your own Stonehenge solstice coin necklace.

NECKLACE INFORMATION

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen).  The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..

Medium size : approx 195 mm

Large size : approx 210 mm (good size if you want a looser dangly medium fit)
